John Abraham

Actor John Abraham had planned to make a film on a wrestler even before ‘Dangal’ or ‘Sultan’ were being brainstormed about. It would be a biopic on the historic wrestler Gama Pahelwan. We heard he had to shelve it as the two big films on wrestling were already announced. Is that true?

It is, confirms John. “Yes, I have. Because Salman was making a film on wrestling. Aamir was making a film on wrestling and even though Parmeet Sethi has actually written the most beautiful script, now is not the time to make that film. I would love to revisit it at some point of time, but not for now because it’s too soon.” he says.

His fondness for fitness and sports is known to all. Another film on wrestling might be too soon, but is he planning to work on any other film based on any other sport?

“I came into this industry because I saw ‘Rocky 4’ and Sylvester Stallone. He is my idol, that’s why I made a film called ‘Rocky Handsome’. I’d love to see a film on boxing and I think it’s a sport that’s universal. In terms of sport, I’d like to work on boxing and football films.” the actor answers.

Does that mean we can expect a boxing or soccer flick soon? Time will tell..
