Juhi Chawla recalls the awkwardness when asked to wear just a shirt in ‘Lootere’

Watching actress wear skimpy clothes on the silver screen is too common these days. But in 90s things were not the same. Actress Juhi Chawla recently recalled her experience of shooting the song ‘Main Teri Rani Tu Raja Mera’, in which she was asked to just wear a shirt! Yes, just a shirt.

The song featured in Dharmesh Darshan’s 1993 film ‘Lootere’. Juhi Chawla romanced Sunny Deol in this action-drama. Recalling the shooting of this particular song, Juhi said she was very self-conscious at that time.

In an interview with Rajeev Masand, recalling how hesitant she was to shoot a song just in a shirt, Juhi said, “This was a radical change in my look and feel and everything. It was all Dharmesh Darshan and his imagination. It had to be in a shirt and I was so self-conscious because ‘What? I am in a shirt on a beach? Only in a shirt?!’ Well, not quite, but yes.”

The lovely actress further added, “The moment Saroj ji was choreographing, I was like, okay. Because she has done work with Sridevi ji and Madhuri Dixit, and her work has finesse. So then I was comfortable and it happened, and even I have to say that it looked quite nice.”

For the unversed, ‘Main Teri Rani Tu Raja Mera’ was a hit romantic song from the 90s and it was sung by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. In the entire song, Juhi is seen having fun time alone at a beach fantasizing about her lover.

On the work front, Juhi will be next seen in Hitesh Bhatia’s ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. In this film, she will be reuniting with Rishi Kapoor.
