In a revealing discussion about life after separation, Junaid Khan, the eldest son of Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, shared insights into his parents’ amicable relationship post-divorce. Aamir and Reena, who divorced in 2002, have maintained a supportive dynamic that Junaid appreciates, as he never witnessed any conflicts between them.

Junaid Khan on Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s divorce

During an interview with Vicky Lalwani on his YouTube channel, Junaid reflected on how his parents’ split at the age of eight was handled with care, sparing him and his sister, Ira, from any emotional turmoil. “It was good,” he remarked. “They never actually let us feel the impact of their divorce. I didn’t see them fight until I was 19. They always presented a united front when it came to us, which I think was a mature approach. Two good people don’t always make a good couple, and this way, I had a happy childhood with both parents.”

Despite their separation, Junaid has never felt the absence of his parents’ togetherness. He noted that they make an effort to stay connected, often gathering as a family. “It’s great. We meet frequently, especially now that Ira is married. We all live within a 100-meter radius, so it’s easy to get together. Every Tuesday evening is family tea time—my mom, Ira, dad, and me. We try to meet regularly, whether it’s all four of us or just a few,” he shared.

Aamir-Reena marriage

The couple tied the knot in 1986. Aamir and Reena welcomed two children, Junaid and Ira, before their divorce. Aamir later married Kiran Rao in 2005, but this union also ended in 2021, after 15 years. They have a son, Azad, born through surrogacy.
