Moved by “Kajarya”, based on female infanticide, Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh has expressed interest in screening the Madhureeta Anand directorial for his peers in Parliament House.
Having felt that the movie is an eye-opener and it bravely sheds light on a social evil that has haunted the nation for long, the minister said he wants to screen the movie in Parliament House for fellow parliament members.
Anand earlier hosted a special screening of the 98-minute long film for Singh and others present in parliament.
“It would be an honour to show the film to the parliamentarians of the country because the issue needs to be highlighted and taken forward on an urgent basis. The fact is that the number of girls being killed is tantamount to genocide and this has to be made clear and acted upon in that way, with that urgency,” Anand said in a statement.
Anand herself has been doing rounds of villages holding special screenings for women to sensitise them on female infanticide.
