Kajol joins Prasar Bharati board as a part time member

Bollywood beauty Kajol has been appointed as a part-time member of Prasar Bharati Board on Friday. The board takes care of public broadcasters Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR). Along with Kajol was Shashi Shekhar Vempati, who is associated with an Online Media Company. Kajol will serve her term as a part-time member till November 2016.

Prasar Bharati Board will be holding a meeting on February 24 which Kajol is expected to attend. The meeting will deal with the appointment of DGs of Doordarshan and AIR.

“It is expected that Kajol will be present during the upcoming meeting of the Prasar Bharati board on February 24,”- a senior official was quoted saying.

Both Doordarshan and AIR have been functioning under interim heads for around a year now. According to the Prasar Bharati Act, having six part-time members is compulsory on the board. They will be headed by the chairman.
