‘Kalank’: Karan Johar introduces Madhuri Dixit as the ethereal and timeless Bahaar Begum

Karan Johar’s period drama ‘Kalank’ is in news since yesterday as the makers made the day for fans by sharing the first look posters of Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt. The amazing posters have been trending on social media since then. Today, on the occasion of Women’s Day, the makers are sharing the first look posters of the women of ‘Kalank’.

After sharing the stunning poster of Alia Bhatt dressed as a bride and Sonakshi Sinha as Satya, the makers are now out with the first look poster of Madhuri Dixit.

It is to be noted that Madhuri Dixit’s role was earlier supposed to be played by Sridevi. After her demise, Madhuri stepped into her shoes. In an interview with DNA, she said, “When I was on the sets, I looked at it as just another role. But, yes, I was extremely emotional when Karan asked me to take up her role. I hope I make her proud. We had known each other for many years and shared a warm equation. It was difficult for everyone in the industry to wrap their heads around her sudden loss. It is still hard to accept the truth. I don’t think anyone of us has still come to terms with her absence. We will always feel the void.”

For the uninitiated, ‘Kalank’ is a multi-starrer film that will star Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Madhuri Dixit in pivotal roles. It will be releasing in April 2019.
