Kalki Koechlin, who is presently working on her upcoming film ‘Jia Aur Jia’, recently spoke her heart out on various issues pertaining to equal rights for women. While discussing how women are often taken for granted when it comes to domestic responsibilities, she said the responsibility is supposed to be divided equally.
“There are a lot of job opportunities, education… and women are in a good space; but some lose confidence, under pressure of getting married after a certain age, stop working after marriage or baby, and things like that. (Also Read: Here’s what Kalki Koechlin has to say on her re-marriage plans)
“There is maternity leave, but no paternity leave. This is not right. Domestic responsibilities need to be shared equally,” Kalki said.
‘Jia Aur Jia’ looks like another film banking upon strong content. In the recent past, we’ve seen how such films have garnered far more success (both commecially and critically), rather than films featuring big stars and made on a massive budget.
“I think we should focus more on writing, and respect our writers more. Content is king now, especially because of what we are getting exposed to on the web,” the actress said.
