kamal haasan, shah rukh khan, kamal haasan shah rukh khan, hey ram,

Kamal Haasan is a busy man at the moment. The actor is awaiting the release Kalki 2898 AD on June 27 and Indian 2 (Hindustani 2) on July 12. While the former releases in theatres tomorrow, the trailer of the latter was unveiled last evening in Mumbai. The launch event saw Haasan, Siddharth and other members of the cast and crew in attendance. While promoting the film at last night’s event, Haasan heaped praises on Shah Rukh Khan and called him a ‘superstar.’

Scroll below to know all he said about his Hey Ram co-star and why he bestowed the ‘superstar’ tag on him.

Kamal Haasan praises Shah Rukh Khan

Getting candid about the bond Shah Rukh Khan and he shares, Kamal Haasan said, “Let me talk on behalf of Mr SRK because I am sure that he’ll allow me to do that. When we worked together, we were all just people. I don’t see a superstar; he doesn’t see a super-director. We are friends. As a matter of fact, Shah Rukh saab made that film (Hey Ram) for free. What more do you need?”

The ‘Hindustani 2’ actor continued, “That cannot be done by a superstar. That takes a true fan of cinema, a connoisseur of art, and a good actor. I am ever thankful for him.” Haasan downplayed the whole “superstar” title, saying, “We don’t see ourselves that way. You, the audience, give us these titles, and we shyly accept them.”

During an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble in May 2022, Kamal Haasan spoke about working with Shah Rukh Khan in Hey Ram. He said, “No, he didn’t (charge any fees). But it did cost me something though… a wristwatch. (Laughs) That’s all it was but then he advertises for wristwatches and he can get a watch anytime he wants, that’s not why he did it and I am forever grateful for that.”
