Kangana Ranaut has expressed her admiration for Jaya Bachchan. She called her one of the most “dignified” women in the film industry. During a recent interaction, Kangana praised the works of Jaya Bachchan and particularly spoke about her films that promoted women’s empowerment in the 1970s.
This statement is a significant departure from the tension the two actresses shared in the past. During the conversation, Kangana also addressed her 2020 attack on Jaya Bachchan for her comments in Parliament with regard to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Kangana Ranaut praises Jaya Bachchan
As reported by News18, Kangana Ranaut recently praised Jaya Bachchan for her contribution to not only the film industry but politics too. The ‘Emergency’ actress said, “Jaya Bachchan ji is a very reputed actor in our film industry. Honestly, she’s known for her short temper. But at the same time, I’d like to give her the acknowledgement and due credit for those times. You can imagine that in the 1970s when women had to roast their skin in the (harsh) lighting. However, she did films like Guddi. She sent a message of women’s empowerment through that.”
She added, “And even after that… She’s one of the most dignified women in the film industry. The way she carries herself in Rajya Sabha. I feel excellent that we have this kind of representation from the film industry.” Addressing her past attack on the ‘RARKPK’ actress, Ranaut said, “That’s fine. If we say something to each other. I believe she’s older than us. We should take it in stride if she says something to us.”
