Kangana Ranaut: Bollywood actors assault women
While attending the News18 India Chaupal event in New Delhi yesterday, Kangana Ranaut opened up about the safety of women in our society. As the revelations made in the Hema Committee report about the abuse and assault women face in the Malayalam film industry shock the country, Kangana alleged that Bollywood actors also exploit female members of the film industry “a lot.”
The publication quoted the actress saying, “Do you know how these heroes assault women? They call them for dinners, message them, ask them to come home.” The ‘Queen’ actress continued, “Look at the Kolkata rape and murder case. Look at rape threats to me. We know that we do not respect women. The film industry is no different. College boys comment on females. Film heroes are no different. They are also like this. We know how a woman is treated at a workplace.”
Talking about abuse in Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut – who currently fighting for the release of her upcoming biographical political drama, added, “Even Saroj Khan was once asked about rape and sexual assault in the film industry when she said, ‘Rape toh karte hai par roti bhi dete hai’. This is the situation of our daughters in this film industry.”
The findings of the Justice Hema Committee Report has resulted in FIRs being registered against several Mollywood personalities. This includes Mukesh, Siddique, Jayasurya, Edavela Babu, Maniyan Pillai Raju, directors Ranjith, V. K. Prakash, and production executives Vichu and Noble.
