The death of George Floyd in Minneapolis created an outrage on social media, especially in the USA. People all across the world started protesting using the slogans “I can’t breathe” and “Black Lives Matter”. Joining the bandwagon, Bollywood celebs like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Disha Patani, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor among others also condemned the brutal act with their social media posts.
Kangana Ranaut who never minces her words has called out the Indian celebs who have stayed mum on the mob lynching cases and crimes that are happening in India.
The National Award-winning actor had an interview with BBC, where she said that Indian celebrities are supporting the movement (Black Lives Matter) in the US as it has become ‘fancy’ to be part of the bandwagon.
“Well, I think it has become fancy to somehow be part of this bandwagon, which is relevant to the west. But, if you see how Asian celebrities and actors work, they are very impactful in this part of the country but I don’t know how they are participating in the social-political reform of America,” said the ‘Queen’ actress.
She also said that every country has its own set of issues and we need to first deal with the evil within us, before going out to try and reform the world.
Kangana also added that most of the successful Indian celebrities have been endorsing fairness products and now they are supporting the movement in the US. She said, “They have been endorsing all kinds of fairness products and they shamelessly stand and say black lives matter, I mean, how dare they? why is no one asking them?”
