Bollywood’s queen Kangana Ranaut, who is all set to stun her fans through the historical film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ next week has said that no one has backed her as a film director. The Bollywood diva turned director with ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ is featuring herself in the lead role.
Talking about her journey as a director, Kangana Ranaut said that it was full of challenges. She told Pinkvilla, “I think it got difficult because my films didn’t work. I think for people, it became difficult to trust me with money. The mathematics is very simple – if your film earns, then you can. I am sure after this film my credibility would be more and one flop wouldn’t hurt me.”
The ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actress went extra mile for ‘Manikarnika’ and collaborated with Krrish to direct the movie, Kangana said, “There has been a time when I was let down by my directors. There have been great performances but the movies haven’t lived up to the expectations. You will never know until you do it.”
She also said that no one has supported her decision of directing a movie. “People have been so unappreciative of my directorial debut. Everyone is saying why am I directing as they love me as an actor. I think directors are unsung heroes. They don’t get paid that much barring a few who are producing their own films. Even the biggest status matters on who they signed on with and that’s why you see these directors going to all the big stars,” said the ‘Queen’ star.
The film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ is produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain and Nishant Pitti and is all set to hit the theatres on January 25.
