In an industry where objectification and discrimination against women have almost turned norms and most of artistes choose to remain mum, being fiercely vocal comes with a price. Same is the case with Kangana Ranaut, who has had both her voice and head high all the time. (Also Read: EXCLUSIVE: Kangana Ranaut’s brand endorsements taking a back seat? Find out why!)

At many points, her unapologetic opinions have taxed her. Remember the time she raised a question on pay disparity between male and female artistes in Bollywood? She says she was pulled down by a few Bollywood actresses themselves, who began PR campaigns, boasting the fat figures they were being paid.
“When I was fighting for equal pay, many women from my industry started fake articles that they are getting this, that. They started hiking their salaries through their PRs. They do not understand how they are harming themselves. What (change) can happen like this- by running someone down and overriding their cause with your own personal agendas? We have got to collectively fight for it. Women have such an inferior complex that they genuinely believe ki itna mil raha hai bahot hai, aur kya chahiye tumko (You are already getting so much. Why do you want more?),” she stated, during a conversation with The Week.

Coincidentally, around the same time, Deepika Padukone being paid 13 crore for a film (which was apparently a higher number than what her male co-stars were being paid) were floating on the internet. We wonder if Kangana’s remarks were hinted at her!
