With less than a week to its release, Kangana Ranaut is going out promoting the upcoming biographical political drama. The actress – who has been vocal about several issues during the promotion of the film, recently revealed that the certification of her film has been stopped owing to the CBFC receiving death threats. Now, the board’s lawyer has commented on the same.

Kangana Ranaut starrer Emergency to still receive CBFC certificate

As reported by Hindustan Times, the Punjab and Haryana High Court disposed of a plea seeking revocation of the screening certificate of the film Emergency on Saturday as the CBFC told the bench that the film has not yet been cleared for public viewing.

Additional Solicitor General of India, Satya Pal Jain, who appeared on behalf of the CBFC, told the Punjab and Haryana High Court, “The certification of the movie is under consideration. It has not been granted as of now. It will be granted as per rules and regulations, as applicable in this case. If anyone has any grievance, the same can be sent to the board.”

Jain added that the CBFC takes into account all necessary aspects before issuing a certification. He said, “(The CBFC) will take all steps to ensure that no content that may offend any community is certified for public exhibition.”

Over the last couple of days, the Kangana Ranaut starrer has been in the news as many Sikh organisations – including the SGPC and Akal Takht, have raised objections to the content shown in the trailer and are demanding a ban on the film’s worldwide release. A recent report even suggested that the Telangana State government may consider banning the film’s release in the state.
