Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi’s release date is postponed. The makers released an official statement confirming the same. Kangana also shared it on her Twitter handle. The decision is taken due to the alarming rise in Covid-19 cases. As the government has decided to shut down the theatres owing to the current situation, the team has supported the government for its rules and regulations and therefore, Thalaivi’s release date has been postponed. The movie was slated to release on April 23.

Kangana tweeted, “Theater business can only be revived if theatres open”.

Thalaivi is a multilingual film that will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Directed by AL Vijay, it is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh. It also stars Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree in pivotal roles.

It is based on the life of Jayalalithaa, a politician and film actress who served six times as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. On the birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister, the makers of Thalaivi announced the release date with a motion poster on February 24 and on the occasion of Kangana’s 34th birthday, Thalaivi’s trailer was released. As Kangana is playing Jayalalithaa, her massive transformation from being an actress to a politician is hands down commendable. She has got positive reviews on the trailer.

Apart from Thalaivi, the release dates of Chehre, Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Sooryavanshi are also postponed.
