Kangana Ranaut to play Rani Lakshmi Bai in Indo-British production

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is ruling the roost, the Queen actress will soon be seen in a romantic comedy ‘Katti Batti’ opposite Imran Khan. Now we bring a breaking news for her fans, the Diva will soon be depicting the role of Rani Lakshmi Bai aka Jhansi Ki Rani in a Ketan Mehta Indo-British production.

Kangana Ranaut is right now delivering above anything that her contemporaries are at the Box office. The Queen actress is at present on the peak of her career. Now with the Ketan Mehta’s upcoming biopic on Rani Lakshmi Bai bagged by the actress, she must be truly floating on cloud seven.

Sources reveal, “Kangana has read about Lakshmi Bai in school. So, when she was approached for the role, she was very excited. She also loved Ketan’s script, and was impressed with the kind of research that has gone into it.”

Ketan Mehta confirming the news said, “Yes, Kangana is on board. I always wanted to make The Rising as a trilogy. So, this film will be the second part after Mangal Pandey (2005). I am very excited. The film will be made in Hindi and English and is likely to go on floors by next year. Kangana will be training extensively in sword-fighting, horseback-riding, and other warfare skills in order to realistically portray the role of Jhansi Ki Rani.”

Now for the best part. Apparently Kangana Ranaut will be co-starring opposite Hollywood actor Hugh Grant in the biopic. The actor is being approached to play the role of General Hugh Rose who commanded the Central Indian Field Force and he crushed the Indian rebels at Jhansi in 1858. He also spoke greatly of Rani Lakshmi Bai’s bravery during the rebellion.

If this does come true then quite a feat will be achieved by Kangana Ranaut.
