Kangana Ranaut CONFIRMS Emergency being postponement
Taking to X earlier today, Kangana Ranaut shared a heartbreaking post confirming that the biographical political drama is being postponed. She tweeted, “With a heavy heart I announce that my directorial Emergency has been postponed, we are still waiting for the certification from censor board, new release date will be announced soon, thanks for your understanding and patience. (sic)”
Over the last several days, Emergency has been part of the headlines owing to objections from several Sikh organisations. Groups such as the SGPC and Akal Takht have raised objections to the content shown in the trailer and have been demanding a ban on the film’s worldwide release. Recently, Kangana opened up about the controversy surrounding the film’s content and the CBFC asking for cuts in the film.
She said in Hindi, “An Emergency has been imposed on my film too. It’s a very hopeless state. I’m quite disappointed by our country and whatever the circumstances are.” She added, “People will keep scaring us because we get scared so easily. How much will we keep getting scared? I’ve made this film with a lot of self-respect which is why the CBFC can’t point out any contention. They’ve stalled my certificate, but I’m determined to release an uncut version of the film. I’ll fight in court and release an uncut version. I can’t show all of a sudden that Indira Gandhi died on her own at her home. I can’t show it like that.”
