Kangana Ranaut

Shocked? Certainly, you are. After all, this statement is coming from a woman who has become an epitome of strong and bold statements in a male-oriented industry that Bollywood is, and is the flag-bearer of feminism as a brand, though she has never used the F word in her statements. But yes, that is what Kangana Ranaut has said, and before you jump to conclusions, hear out what she has got to say.

It so happened that when the actress was present at the recently held Jagran Cinema Summit, she was asked about her views on feminism, and her views on the fact that she has been labelled a ‘man-hater’, courtesy her ballsy interviews on Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Pancholi, recently, when she was invited on ‘Aap Ki Adalat’. It was then, that probably for the first time, Kangana spoke on the concept of feminism, and what she said was really something which would make you ponder.

The actress said, “No, I am not a man-hater for sure… I think feminism is something… a sorry state to be in any society. The gender equality should be there, where feminism doesn’t need to act like a medicine on inequality. We should not have feminists, we shouldn’t have all these things… We shouldn’t have feminism in society.”

Well, that is certainly something which we can only imagine in a utopian society, for the current scenario certainly calls for the existence of feminism, to eradicate patriarchy. However, kudos to Kangana for saying it out aloud as to how pathetic a society has to be, in order to have a concept like feminism exist and fight every single day.

More power to you, lady. On work front, Kangana’s latest ‘Simran’, hit the theatres yesterday. Let’s see how it manages to fare, both at box office and in audiences’ hearts.
