Moreover, actors Hina Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Huma Qureshi have been summoned in the betting case.
Bollywood actors summoned by ED
News agency ANI tweeted, “ED has summoned comedian Kapil Sharma and actor Huma Qureshi in connection with the Mahadev betting app case: ED Sources.” Actor Hina Khan has also been called for the same purpose, as per a report of News18. The reports also mentioned that Shraddha Kapoor is on the list of being summoned in the betting case.
As per Mint, an ED lawyer Saurabh Pandey explained the betting case app. He was quoted saying, “Mahadev app is a betting portal and it is a case of money laundering. Raipur ED office started the probe and four people were arrested. As the probe proceeded further, the names of many people came to light, and we issued summons to a few people. Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor’s name has also come up so we issued a summon under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He didn’t appear today but through email, he requested one week time. We will see what needs to be done further”.
What is Mahadev betting app?
The Mahadev Betting App is an online game where people can do illegal betting on various online games. The games include poker, card games, chance games, badminton, tennis, football, cricket and others. Dubai-based Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal are the owners of this app as betting is legal in Dubai. However, it is illegal in India. The betting game came under the scanner when a lavish wedding in Dubai happened in Rs 200 crore and the entire money was given in cash.
