Jigra movie starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina garnered good responses from the fans and critics alike. However, it can’t be said the same regarding box office collections as it is still struggling to gain momentum. Moreover, actor Divya Khossla Kumar even called out Alia Bhatt for not showing fake box office collections. Amid the counterfeit collections controversy, filmmaker Karan Johar revealed that box office numbers are fudged. Moreover, he also stated how actors are not cast based on their merits but on their popularity.
About box office numbers, Karan Johar told Indian Express, “Yes, numbers are fudged, true.” When asked if actors are cast in films based on their talent, Karan denied it straight away. “No,” he said, adding, “Box office, popularity, always equal talent. I mean, I’m sure there are more talented filmmakers than me. And they don’t get the chance to make movies. There are a gazillion more talented people and filmmakers than me, I’m quite sure of that. So I won’t even speak for stars, I’ll speak for myself. So I think I’m privileged and I’m grateful for that.”
Meanwhile, Serene Productions will hold a 50% stake in Dharma, with Karan Johar retaining the remaining 50% ownership. This strategic partnership between Serene Productions and Dharma is designed to capitalize on these opportunities by combining Dharma’s rich legacy in storytelling with Adar Poonawalla’s strategic acumen and resources. The collaboration aims to further transform content creation, distribution, and audience engagement by integrating advanced technologies and pioneering production methods.
