Filmmaker Karan Johar and producer Ekta Kapoor were honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri Awards on Monday, November 8. Ekta Kapoor received the prestigious award from honourable President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Kapoor dedicated the award to her parents. She was accompanied by her father, veteran actor Jeetendra for the ceremony. Producer-filmmaker Karan Johar was feted with honour by the President of India. Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor both were clicked as they received the prestigious Padma Shri award from the President.

In the pictures from Rashtrapati Bhavan, Karan Johar was clicked receiving his award. He was dressed in black for the ceremony. Ekta Kapoor was dressed in a traditional outfit. She graced a beautiful smile.

Meanwhile, after receiving the award, Ekta Kapoor issued a statement. As per a report in the Times of India, in the statement, the producer said that it is a surreal moment for her and a great matter of pride. She dedicated the badge of honour to her two pillars of strength- her mom Shobhaa Kapoor and dad Jeetendra. She said, “I am really overwhelmed with all the love and accolades that are coming my way. I want to thank my family, friends, my team at Balaji Telefilms and most importantly – the audience, for believing in me and supporting me. I hope to always push the envelope, challenge norms, give talents a platform that they truly deserve, instill pride and give back to the country that has fuelled my ambition and dreams.

Apart from Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar, a few others from the film and entertainment industry were also honoured with the Padma Shri Award. Singer Adnan Sami, Suresh Wadekar, and Kangana Ranaut were other recipients who were conferred with the prestigious award at the capital. Actress Kangana Ranaut made a post on her Instagram and shared a video too, expressing gratitude.

Till today, actors Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Kajol, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit, late Irrfan Khan, Helen, Rekha, Paresh Rawal, Sharmila Tagore and several others have been honoured with the prestigious award.
