Karan Johar announces his next directorial, an action film, on 50th birthday

Today marks a big day in the life of Karan Johar as the filmmaker turns 50 today and while he is all set to celebrate this milestone with his friends and family from the industry and the who’s who of Bollywood, he made the day special for his fans as well. While Karan is currently in the midst of shooting his upcoming directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, he has already announced his next directorial and it marks a huge switch of genre for the filmmaker.

Karan Johar is known for his films on family and relationships. Be it Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name Is Khan, Student Of The Year or Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the filmmaker has always presented a larger-than-life world to the audience with romance and emotion at its heart that always connects to the audience. But now, he is all set to try on a new genre as his next directorial will be an action film. He shared a heartfelt note to announce the same.

In the note, Karan shared the release date of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani while also announcing that he won’t be waiting for long before going on the floors with his next directorial after that. He wrote, “The one aspect that I am most passionate about is being a filmmaker! In the past I have always taken long gaps between my films but today on this special day I would like to announce my next directorial feature… Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will release on the 10th of February 2023 and I will commence the shoot of my ACTION FILM in APRIL 2023. (sic)”

In the other part of his note, Karan spoke about entering this new milestone age and how proudly he accepts to “living life without any apologies.” He also plugged in his next production JugJugg Jeeyo in the sign off and that is the signature humour Karan is known for. Apart from these two directorial of his, Karan also has the upcoming season of Koffee With Karan in the making, and he has already started shooting for it. Two directorial and Koffee With Karan 7, that is what is called entering the 50s with a bang. Wishing the amazing filmmaker a very happy birthday.
