Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced his next movie to be based on the life of lawyer-activist C. Sankaran Nair. Johar’s production house Dharma Productions, along with Still and Still Media Collective will be producing the movie. Karan took to his social media account and announced that his next production is based on the life of C Sankaran Nair, the former president of the Indian National Congress and member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, the cabinet of the government of British India.
Taking to his Instagram Karan wrote, “This film unravels the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Sankaran Nair’s bravery ignited the freedom struggle across the country and is a testament to the power of fighting for the truth.”
Titled ‘The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair’, the biopic will be based on adapted from the book, The Case That Shook the Empire, written by Nair’s great-grandson, author-banker Raghu Palat.

Apart from the C Sankaran Nair biopic, Karan is also producing Sooryavanshi, Brahmastra, Dostana 2, Meenakshi Sundareshwar and also the Madhuri Dixit-starrer web series Finding Anamika. Talking about the directorial front, Karan will be directing Takht which is a period drama and it will star Bollywood’s A-listers Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar.
