Karan Johar celebrates cinema as Dharma Productions completes 44 years; thanks audiences for keeping the magic of movies alive

Today marks the 44th anniversary of Dharma Productions. Dharma is a renowned production company founded by Yash Johar, father of Karan Johar in 1976. The company kicked off its cinematic journey with the film “Dostana,” which starred Amitabh Bachchan and premiered in 1980. Apoorva Mehta is the current CEO of Dharma Productions.

Over the decades, Dharma Productions has been responsible for numerous blockbuster hits. It includes films like Agneepath, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kal Ho Naa Ho, My Name Is Khan, Wake Up Sid, and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, among others.

Karan Johar expresses gratitude as Dharma Productions turns 44

To celebrate this milestone of Dharma Productions, Karan Johar took his social media to express deep gratitude to audiences. The story read, “44 years of a place that I call home…@dharmamovies Thank you for the love over all these years, for keeping the magic of movies alive with us! Today truly is a very special day.”

Dharma Productions shared a montage video on Instagram that showcased clips from some of its most beloved films. The video’s caption reads, “From the big screen to your heart: 44 years of emotions, stories, and priceless moments! Thank you for being with us every step of the way.”

The montage video included memorable moments from Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, 2 States, Agneepath, Jugjugg Jeeyo, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Kalank, Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Dostana, Bad Newz, Ok Jaanu, Brahmastra, Yodha, Shershaah, Raazi, Hasee To Phasee, Wake Up Sid, Kapoor and Sons, and the upcoming action thriller Jigra.

Dharma Productions’ upcoming projects

Looking ahead, Dharma Productions has several exciting projects in the pipeline, including Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina. Jigra is all set to hit theatres on October 11. Upcoming films are Sunny Sanskaari Ki Tusli Kumari featuring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor and Sarzameen starring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Kajol. And there is an untitled film featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan.

Karan Johar’s upcoming project

Karan Johar’s most recent directorial work was Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The movie boasted a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi. He is currently preparing for his next project, reportedly an action film, though specific details are yet to be disclosed.
