The filmmaker believes that the digital media is good as it pushes the writers to come up with new and original content. He also feels that this medium is a dance to the experience of watching the film on the big screen.

Talking to DNA, Karan Johar said, “Let’s look at the positive side. Today we have many more verticals of entertainment. Digital is the new addition and it provides a platform to writers, storytellers, actors. On the flip side, it does pose a threat to the footfalls to the cinema and that is where we have to up our game. That is the challenge and that will only improve our content.”

“We have seen anti-establishment, love take over in the 90s. Today, we are in the age of high concept films like Uri: The Surgical Strike, Raazi, Badhaai Ho or big event films like Simmba. One of these two is the future of Indian cinema and that is the way we can combat the forces of the digital medium that are coming towards us,” he added.

On the work front, after the break of nearly about 2 years, Karan Johar will get back to the direction and his next project is a period drama titled ‘Takht’. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar. It will release in 2020.
