The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) Awards once again took centre stage, honouring the finest cinematic gems from the Indian film industry. Filmmaker Karan Johar is over the moon as he has been honoured at the Indian film festival of Melbourne. After dedicating 25 years of his life to Hindi cinema, Karan Johar received a huge round of applause for his immense contributions to the field of entertainment.

KJo receives an honourary award at IFFM

Karan Johar said at the event: “This is my third time at IFFM. And I’m so grateful for the warmth and grace of the festival and everyone involved with it. I’m here joined by many fellow of the Indian film fraternity and I’m honoured to be amongst such impeccable talent.

Karan Johar and his contribution to Film industry

His immense contribution to the Indian film industry is impeccable. KJo’s movies are still been rewatched and that’s the kind of magic he creates with his movies. Johar entered the film industry as an assistant director for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). He even made a cameo in the movie as Raj’s friend. He then made his own directorial debut with the romantic comedy-drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). The movie starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji became a huge hit.

Right now, KJo is basking in the success of his latest directorial film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer has already crossed the 100 crore mark at the box office and is continuing to grow.

When Karan celebrated his 25 years

Before releasing the trailer of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the director shared a small video. It was about his 25 years of journey. He captioned, “Nothing but gratitude for the magical 25 years I have spent in the director’s chair. I learnt, I grew, I wept, I laughed – I lived. And tomorrow, another piece of my heart will be yours to see and I could not be more ecstatic as I celebrate my birthday with you all. With a kahaani that has prem written all over it.

IFFM 2023 winners

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan, Kartik Aaryan, Darlings and others have bagged top honours at IFFM 2023.
