Karan Johar calls Anupam Kher starrer The Kashmir Files a movement: ‘You have to learn from it’

Karan Johar shared his thoughts on the Anupam Kher starrer The Kashmir Files. The filmmaker spoke about the movie and called it a ‘movement’. The producer heaped praise on The Kashmir Files and said that people should watch the movie. Karan Johar said that people should watch The Kashmir Files to absorb and learn from it. Karan said that the Vivek Agnihotri directorial should be a lesson to aspiring filmmakers on how to handle the content. Vivek Agnihotri- directed The Kashmir Files released in theatres on March 11.

Speaking about cinema and writing with Galatta Plus, Johar spoke about how the Vivek Agnihotri movie was not made on the budget of other movies. He said, “The Kashmir Files is not made on the budget like a lot of other movies. But it is probably going to be cost-to-profit the biggest hit of Indian cinema. I read on Box Office India and they said that such a movement hasn’t happened since Jai Santoshi Maa, since 1975.”

The filmmaker further spoke about the connection that the movie has made with the masses. He said, “You have got to acknowledge there is something that is connecting with this nation and academically you have to watch it.” Karan added, “You have to watch it to absorb, to learn from it that look, there is this movement that has happened. It’s no longer a film, it’s a movement.”

The Kashmir Files opened with a collection of over 3 crore at the box office. The movie has continued to maintain a good hold at the box office, despite other major releases like SS Rajamouli’s RRR and John Abraham starrer Attack. The Kashmir Files has collected over 250 crore since its release.
