Karan Johar reveals Shah Rukh Khan’s praise for Vicky Kaushal’s ‘best performance’ in Dunki: He says you are exceptional

Shah Rukh Khan and Vicky Kaushal will be seen sharing screen space in Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial Dunki. The trailer was released a few days ago and it received a good response. Ahead of the film’s release, Vicky appeared on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan season 8. The actor was at his candid best as he spoke about his married life with Katrina Kaif, working with Shah Rukh Khan, and a lot more. Speaking of the latter, Vicky shared that working with SRK in Dunki was ‘incredible’. Furthermore, KJo revealed SRK called Vicky’s performance in Dunki his best till date.

KJo said, “Shah Rukh (Khan) tells me it’s your best performance to date. He says you are exceptional in the film. Was it a fantastic experience working with him?” Vicky responded saying, “It was incredible. I mean it’s always fantastic experience to just meet him and then to share screen with him and then to get to work with him, there was so much to learn. Of course, I knew I’d learn a lot as an actor and everything. I got to know why he is where he is and why he is the Badshaah because he was on set as if it was his first film and he gives it all.”

Vicky added, “I am so happy. The few days I got to work on it was a special appearance but like that role, that experience and that too getting directed by Raju sir, the whole experience was just magical and surreal for me.”

Furthermore, Vicky recalled an incident from the sets of Dunki and said, “He had to rush for some important work. It was a very critical kind of moment in the film for my character which was with him. And he just couldn’t be there for that shot. And I had to give that shot with a body double. Then he got done with his and everything and late in the night, he called. And I missed the call because there was an event.”

He added, “And then he messaged me. A very long message saying, ‘Vicky, we’ll do that shot again. I am really sorry that I missed that. I couldn’t be there to give just the cues. And I couldn’t be there. We’ll do that shot again.’ And I had to call him and convince him that Raju sir was happy. And it went okay. There is no need. And I don’t know whether I’ll be able to do that again. I was nervous but he’s like ‘no, we’ll do that again. I’m feeling terrible that I wasn’t there.’ And then, the next day, he came on set. He saw those shots. He was happy with those shots. And only then he was ok that, ‘ok, we don’t have to reshoot to give my shoulder in the shot’. That’s him.”

Dunki also stars Taapsee Pannu and Boman Irani. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial will release on 22nd December, 2023. It will be clashing with Prabhas’ Salaar at the box office.
