Karan Johar unfollows Kartik Aaryan on social media after his exit from Dostana 2?

Yesterday The statement of Karan’s production banner read, “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence-we will be recasting Dostana 2 directed by Collin D’Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon.” As per several reports, differences seem to have emerged between the makers and actor Kartik Aaryan. According to unconfirmed reports, Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions has decided not to collaborate with Kartik in future citing his unprofessional behaviour.

The reports stated that the makers have lost around Rs 20 crore with Kartik’s exit since 20 days of shoot were already completed and these will have to be re-shot with a new actor. An official statement from Kartik’s team on his ouster is still awaited. The film’s shoot had begun in Amritsar but was halted due to the pandemic.

According to the reports, the ace filmmaker has unfollowed Kartik on Instagram while is still one of the followers of KJo. Kartik is still following KJo. Dostana 2 was kicked off with the cast including Kartik, Janhvi Kapoor, and TV actor Lakshya. The original film had starred Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham, and Abhishek Bachchan, which told the story of two men who pretend to be gay to share an apartment with a girl with whom they eventually fall in love.

The first instalment was a massive success despite controversies. This was because it was the first mainstream Indian film to explore homosexuality. Meanwhile, it is being reported that Rajkummar Rao and Vicky Kaushal are the top contenders who will be replacing Kartik in the movie.
