Sharmila Tagore reveals she was diagnosed with cancer, REJECTED Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Saif Ali Khan and Sharmila Tagore graced the iconic couch of the Karan Johar-hosted talk show Koffee With Karan 8. This year, Karan Johar marked this directorial comeback with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The movie is a family entertainer and it was immensely loved by the audience. RRKPK starred Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi in major roles. In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, Karan Johar revealed that Sharmila Tagore was the first choice for Shabana Azmi’s role in RRKPK.

During the chat, Karan Johar revealed that he had first offered Shabana Azmi’s role to Sharmila Tagore. However, due to health reasons, the veteran actress could not come on board. Karan said, “I was so sad to not have you. I had offered Sharmila ji the part played by Shabana ji. She was my very first choice. Because of health reasons at that time, she couldn’t say yes but it is a regret I have.”

Sharmila Tagore further added, “It was the high of Covid and they hadn’t really grappled with Covid at that time. We were not vaccinated, after my cancer. So they didn’t want me to take that risk.” Karan Johar insisted on making up for it which also saw an agreement from Sharmila Tagore.
