Kareena Kapoor Khan on trolls for claiming Rs 12 crore to play Sita in Ramayana: ‘It’s not about being demanding’

Earlier, there were reports that actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has demanded Rs 12 crore for playing Goddess Sita in Ramayan. The moment this news broke out, netizens started trolling her for demanding a whopping amount but she maintained her mum. In fact, stars like Taapsee Pannu, Pooja Hegde and Priyamani came out in support of her for hiking her fees. Now, in an interview with the Guardian, Kareena is glad that female actors are being vocal on the unfortunate gender pay disparity in Bollywood.

“Just a few years ago, no one would talk about a man or woman actually getting equal pay in a movie. Now there are a lot of us being very vocal about it,” Bebo was quoted saying by the portal. “I make it quite clear what I want and I think that respect should be given. It’s not about being demanding, it’s about being respectful towards women. And I think things are kind of changing,” Kareena added.

Earlier, when the topic of the actor asking for a big moolah was highlighted at an NDTV interview, she shook her head. The anchor asked, “What next for Kareena Kapoor Khan? You have a film with Aamir Khan later this year, there was talk that you were asking for Rs 12 crore, and other actresses came out in support of you, but I think that was fake news.” Bebo, reacting to it without being in a rush to respond, just shook her head, and said, “Yeah, yeah…”

Reportedly, she hiked her price from Rs 6-8 crore to Rs 12 crore for playing the Goddess Sita in Ramayan. Plus, the work demands 8-10 months from Kareena to complete the project.
