Kareena Kapoor Khan on her and Deepika Padukone’s role in Singham Again: We have very strong parts

Kareena Kapoor Khan commenced 2024 with a stellar start, as her film Crew made its mark on screens in March, delivering a commendable performance at the box office. In a recent interview with Variety, conducted at the UN House, Kareena shed light on the potential sequel to Crew and her pivotal role in the upcoming movie Singham Again, helmed by Rohit Shetty. She underscored the significance of both her character and Deepika Padukone’s in this grand Bollywood spectacle.

Singham Again stands tall as one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year. A star-studded ensemble cast includes Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Deepika Padukone.

In a recent exchange, Kareena characterised the film as a “completely male testosterone movie,” accentuating the dominance of male characters. However, she noted, “There’s Deepika (Padukone) and me in the film, where we have very strong parts. But obviously it’ll be really different, it is the big ticket Bollywood bonanza for this year, and I’m sure people will enjoy that.”

Kareena also expressed her firm belief that Crew merits a sequel. According to her, the film provided a refreshing portrayal of resilient female characters who advocated for their beliefs. The movie, she mentioned, was primarily enjoyable without being burdened by any specific messaging. Kareena attributed its success to the positive reception it received from women, families, and audiences alike.

Kareena’s future projects

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s upcoming venture, Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders, casts her in the lead role. In this film, she essays the role of a mother and investigator motivated to unravel the mystery behind the murder of a 10-year-old in Buckinghamshire, driven by the tragic loss of her own child. While the official release date for the film remains undisclosed, it premiered at MAMI 2023.
