Kareena Kapoor gives a sassy reply after Karan Johar asks if she missed Gadar 2 success party due to her ‘history’ with Ameesha Patel

Actor Ameesha Patel had a dream debut opposite Hrithik Roshan in 2000 with the release of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. The Rakesh Roshan directorial made the two overnight stars. However, it’s a known story that Ameesha wasn’t the first choice for the film but it was Kareena Kapoor. It was well known that Kareena would be making her debut with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. However, when it didn’t materialise, the role was then bagged by Ameesha. In fact, she has also expressed gratitude towards the same. Talking about the same on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, Karan Johar asked Bebo why she missed Gadar 2 success party. Taking it sportingly, Kareena gave a sassy reply.

Bebo was asked the reason why she didn’t attend the Gadar 2 success party. Kareena answered she wasn’t in town. Karan poked Kareena asking if she didn’t attend the party because she and Ameesha Patel have so much history. She then hit it back saying, “The only history I know is that her movie created history“. When asked to share her views on being replaced by Ameesha in the movie, Kapoor said, “I think that films are destiny. Everyone went on to do their best and that’s it”. The Laal Singh Chaddha actor even expressed her desire to watch the movie.

Ameesha Patel on replacing Kareena Kapoor for the role

Earlier, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ameesha made a shocking confession that it was indeed Rakesh Roshan who let Kareena go from the film. She shared, “Actually she didn’t back out. Mr Rakesh Roshan, from what he told me was that he asked her to leave the film because they were having differences. In fact, Pinky Aunty, Rakesh uncle’s wife and Hrithik’s mom, said we were shocked. The set was ready and how will you find a Sonia in three days? Crores of rupees on that set and you know they’ll have to be dismantled. What we do with the film and it was Hrithik’s debut and everyone was really stressed.”

Kareena then went on to debut with Abhishek Bachchan in Refugee.
