Kareena Kapoor: Saif Ali Khan did not ask for Padma Shri

The Central Government is planning to take away actor Saif Ali Khan‘s Padma Shri award. The reason being his involvement in a tussle with an an NRI at a suburban restaurant. The nawab’s gorgeous actress wife Kareena Kapoor Khan reacting to the controversy says that Saif did not ask for Padma Shri.

Saif Ali Khan had been awarded the Padma Shri in 2010 for his contribution to Indian cinema. But was involved in a fracas with an NRI at a subarban restaurant. This incident had led to police case being filed against the actor by the NRI. Recently, there were reports that the government, was contemplating of stripping Saif of the Padma honour.

His wife Kareena Kapoor known for her bluntness shot back, that it was not Saif who demanded the Padma honour. It was ‘conferred’ to him for his contribution to Hindi cinema. She also added that the Centre can take the Padma honour back and Saif will be happy to give it back.

As yet there has been no official announcements regarding Centre’s decision.
