Kareena Kapoor and Zoya Akhtar tease an Indian remake of the hit series The White Lotus, former calls it ‘genius’

The American show The White Lotus seems to have become the world’s new obsession now. Everywhere across the globe, people are loving and appreciating it as the second season of the show was recently streamed. Even in India, people are loving the show and actress Kareena Kapoor is the latest addition to that list. The actress took to her social media to express her appreciation and might have given a big hint for her new project as well, with filmmaker Zoya Akhtar.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Kareena praised the second season of the show The White Lotus and said, “White Lotus… Season 2… One word… Genius… We can do this too… Zoya Akhtar… Are you listening? (sic)”. The actress’ story has clearly hinted that maybe the duo is planning to come together to work on an Indian remake of the show, and if Kareena’s hint wasn’t loud enough, Zoya cleared any doubts about it with her response as she reshared Kareena’s story on her profile with a reply saying, “Can’t Wait @kareenakapoorkhan… I hear you Loud And Clear (sic)”.

The White Lotus is an American show that started as a miniseries but with the success of its first season, it was extended as an anthology. The first season opened on July 11, 2021, while the latest season started on October 30 this year with its finale releasing just last week on December 11. The show has already been renewed for a third season. It follows the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain, whose stay is affected by their various psychosocial dysfunctions. The first season had bagged 10 Emmy awards too this year including Outstanding  Limited or Anthology Series amongst others.

As for Kareena and Zoya, even though the duo has never worked together yet, they were supposed to team up for Dil Dhadakne Do, but somehow it couldn’t work out. It would indeed be great to see these two amazing women come together. As of now, Kareena has Devotion To Suspect X releasing next, followed by her debut production with Hansal Mehta and Ekta Kapoor, whereas Zoya is focused on the release of The Archies, which marks the debut of Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, Dot and Mihit Ahuja.
