Green Cocktail Saree – ‘Raja Hindustani’
This movie witnessed a metamorphosis of Karisma (we want to erase those memories of her ‘Kaidi’ look), courtesy the magical touches of ace celebrity designer Manish Malhotra. The actress nailed the iconic green saree with straight black hair, mesmerising heavy lashes, a snug full-sleeve blouse and matching emerald jewellery. Everything about her look was oh-so-royal and it’s something we can still wear for one of our dinner soirees.
Velvet Dress – ‘Hero No.1’
Lolo wore this blue velvet dress almost two decades ago, but the velvet trend has been exploding the fashion industry even now. She clubbed this skater dress with sleek, middle-parted hair in ‘Sona Kitna Sona Hai’ and well, also managed to win over Govinda in the song (how could he ignore the hotness?). This is one fashion trend we can still rely on!
The Britney Spears Look – ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’
Karisma rocked the athleisure trend in this grey outfit that included crop top with yellow sleeves, baggy pants, a matching sling bag and those no-fuss pigtails. Of course, the look was quite quirky and too fashionable for those times. We can emulate the same look today with oversized joggers, a bralette and hair clips!
The Metallic Slip Dress – ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’
All of us have some slip dresses sitting in our wardrobe. And if it’s metallic, even better! Needless to say, even Karisma felt the same way about them and sported this sexy silver number in the movie. There’s this certain oomph factor about this outfit that makes it so Lolo-licious and the lady gets bonus points for choosing a metallic hue! Especially perfect for summer parties, this look will make you the trendiest guest at the party.
Rajput Glamour – ‘Zubeida’
Karisma Kapoor's look as a royal bride was mesmerising, to say the least. In a heavily embellished red blouse and saree, a high bun, traditional Rajasthani jewellery and bright red lips - she looked poised and elegant. That whiff of erudition and starry-eyed school-girl quality made her an iconic Rajput princess in traditional Rajput clothing.
We are not the ones who will speak ill or rant about the 90’s fashion scenario. For us, it was the golden era of our sweetheart Karisma Kapoor who made a splash with her fashion in more ways than one and a lot beyond just Juhi Chawla or Raveena Tandon (yeah, we can’t be polite about it). The lady has certainly come a long way from garish and eye-sore costumes, bushy eyebrows and colour-blinding, embellished sarees. Even with all her trials-and-errors, she managed to keep all mouths shut with her breathtaking glam quotient.
