Actor Kartik Aaryan has impressed the audience with his performance in the biographical sports drama film Chandu Champion. In the film, he played the role of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar. Recently, Kartik stated that he lied to grab a role in a film.

Kartik Aaryan lied to Kabir Khan for Chandu Champion

Kartik Aaryan admitted to lying about his ability to swim in order to impress filmmaker Kabir Khan to get a role in Chandu Champion. Kartik took a trip down memory lane and revealed how he lied about his swimming skills to get the part in the Kabir Khan directorial.

Kartik was questioned if he had ever lied for a film. To which he confessed he did that for Chandu Champion. Speaking to India Today, he said, “I had already read the script and really loved it. So when Kabir sir asked me if I knew how professional swimming, I lied and said that I do. In reality, I could only do enough to keep myself afloat.”

Kartik underwent a massive physical transformation for the role in the film. He trained and learned to swim for one and a half years. He added, “One and a half minutes of lying cost me one and a half years.”

Chandu Champion is a biopic of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist, born on November 1, 1944, in Maharashtra. The biographical sports drama film was written and directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Chandu Champion also marks Kartik’s first collaboration with Kabir Khan. It was released on June 14 and failed to perform well at the box office.
