Kartik Aaryan and director Kabir Khan are pretty busy at the moment as the release date of Chandu Champion inches nearer. While promoting the biographical sports drama recently, the duo shared their views on the increased cost producers have to pay for an actor’s entourage. For the unversed, in the last couple of days, several members of the film fraternity have spoken up about the issue and how these expenses reduce the profits a film earns. Read on to know what they said.
Kartik Aaryan, Kabir Khan on increased cost for actors’ entourage
During a recent interview with PTI, Kartik Aaryan got candid about star fees & entourage costs squeezing Bollywood profits in an interview, “There are so many rights of a film when it releases. So you get an ‘x’ amount of money out of it. If your star value and the entire project’s value give profit to the entire team, I think then the math adds up. If it doesn’t, then you have to, you should take a cut… It’s a healthy discussion.”
Director Kabir Khan, who has worked with artists like Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Saif Ali Khan, Ranveer Singh and more believes the conversation started because the industry changed post the pandemic. He says, “It’s a healthy debate, and it’s getting a positive response from actors, directors, and producers. The audiences’ viewing patterns changed. Their habit of coming to theatres diminished. So there was this whole debate about that if that’s diminishing, what are the other avenues where we can earn money from?”
