In Chandu Champion, Kartik will play the role of an unknown sports hero who had an indomitable spirit. Well, how is Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion connected to Sushant Singh Rajput? According to Times of India report, a few years before SSR’s untimely demise, he was slated to do a sports biopic. Back then Chandu Champion was untitled. Reportedly, the film was based on the story of a physically challenged army veteran, turned sportsperson Murlikant Petkar.

Back in 2016, Sushant had expressed his interest in doing Murlikant Petkar’s biopic. In 2016, Sushant starred in Neeraj Pandey’s M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. SSR stepped into the shoes of Indian cricketer M.S. Dhoni to show his journey from being a ticket collector to the world cup winning caption of the Indian cricket team. SSR’s dream of doing another sports biopic didn’t come true. SSR passed away on 14th June, 2020.

Kartik announced Chandu Champion on Tuesday. The actor is prepping hard for the same. In his Instagram post, he revealed that Chandu Champion will release in theatres on 14^th June, 2024.
