Katrina Kaif reveals she had to google Vijay Sethupathi’s name after he was cast in Merry Christmas!

Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi will be seen together in Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas. The trailer gave us a glimpse of Katrina and Vijay’s chemistry in the upcoming film. Now, in a recent interview, Katrina opened up about her co-star Vijay and revealed she had to google his name after Sriram Raghavan first mentioned him.

Katrina Kaif googled Vijay Sethupathi

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Katrina said, “I had actually first really noticed him in the film Class of 83… Is it class of 83 or 83?” When Vijay and Sriram Raghavan corrected her and reminded her that it was 96, Katrina said, “96, sorry. That’s a few years off but… I had actually loved that film 96. It had scenes that even now I remember in my head. The moments between him and Trisha (Krishnan), very unique and very tender, they really stayed with me. So I was familiar with him from that movie.”

Katrina went on to add that some time had passed between her watching his film and Sriram Raghavan telling her that he was considering Vijay for the lead role in Merry Christmas. She said, “When he told me about Vijay, I googled him to refresh my memory. And the first image that came up on Instagram was this very distinguished salt and pepper kind of silver hair, which, for me, I loved.”

The actress called Sriram Raghavan’s idea of casting Vijay ‘interesting’. She further mentioned that while others keep calling their casting ‘unusual’, she thinks differently. Katrina said, “To me, it feel like two actors coming together for a very unusual story.” Merry Christmas will release on January 12, 2024.
