Bollywood actor and writer Ranjit Chowdhry, who was best known to play Rakesh Roshan’s younger brother in the Rekha-starrer ‘Khubsoorat’ passed away yesterday. The actor was 65. His half-sister and well-known theatre personality Raell Padamsee broke the news to everyone.
Raell took to her Instagram to break the sad news of her brother’s demise. Sharing a picture of him she wrote, “For all those who knew Ranjit, the funeral will be held tomorrow and a gathering to celebrate his life n share his stories on May 5th. With love, Raell.” The picture read, “Actor, Writer, Maverick. We will miss you.”

The cause of his death is still unknown. Ranjit was the son of Mumbai theatre artist Pearl Padamsee and the step-son of ad film maverick, Alyque Padamsee. He was best known for his roles in Basu Chatterjee’s ‘Baton Baton Mein’ and ‘Khatta Meetha’. His character of Russie Mistry is still remembered widely. Ranjit was also seen in popular American series ‘Prison Break’. According to a report in Pinkvilla, Ranjit had moved to the US in 1980 and been active as a writer and actor there too.
