Kirti Kulhari gets back to comedy as she confirms reprising her role in Khichdi 2

Kirti Kulhari is known for her intense and poignant roles that she chooses on screen. From Pink to Indu Sarkar, the actress has always given voice to important stories. So, sometimes it gets hard to even imagine that she indeed started her film career with a light-hearted comedy. But that is true and now she is set to return to the genre and that franchise.

Kirti Kulhari to return in Khichdi 2

Unknown to many, Kirti made her film debut opposite JD Majethia in the 2010 release, Khichdi: The movie. In the film, she played the role of Parminder, a sweet, naive and a little dumb girl. Now, 13 years later, she is set to reprise her role in Khichdi 2. She has even started shooting for it in Mumbai.

Confirming the same, Kirti informed, “Khichdi 2 is finally happening and it’s going to be a hilarious ride! I have so many memories from the first film, from shooting the song ‘Chal Chal Bhonsle Market’ with JD to doing all the crazy comedy scenes. I am so happy to return as Parminder in Khichdi 2 since this is where it all started for me.”

Giving a little more glimpse into the sequel, Kirti said, “I have realised over the years what a massive fan-following Khichdi has, especially among kids and families. I am often asked why I don’t do comedies anymore so it’s lovely to return to the genre with this sequel. This Khichdi will be tastier, spicier  and funnier than before.“

Khichdi started as a comedy show on TV in 2002 and gained immense success. It was revived on the small screen again as Instant Khichdi in 2005. Then in 2010, it shifted to the big screen. And a few years ago, it went back to TV in 2018 as Khichdi Returns. Now, with Khichdi 2, the team is all set to mark their return to the big screen. The film also stars  Supriya Pathak, Rajeev Mehta, Anang Desai and Vandana Pathak. 

Kirti’s projects

Kirti is known for her web show Four More Shots Please! She had the release of its third season last year. She was also seen in the web show Human. Apart from that, her last two films were The Girl On The Train and Shaadisthan. Now, she is all set to turn producer as well with her next film, Nayeka.
