Southern superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya, who is making her debut as a director with hi-tech 3D film “Kochadaiiyaan”, Sunday said her movie was an animation and not a cartoon.

“Animation is not understood in India. ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ is an animation but it’s not a cartoon. This project is dear to my heart as it’s our first attempt,” Soundarya told reporters during the curtain raiser of the Hindi version of “Kochadaiiyaan”.

The debutant director said it was her dream to see her father Rajinikanth doing ‘tandav’ and the technology made that happen.

“It was my dream to see my father do tandav and with this technology, my dream came true,” she said.

Rajinikanth has also lent his voice for a song in the film, and Soundarya said it was not difficult to convince her father.

“I am very excited about the song sung by my father and it wasn’t difficult to convince him. I am blessed to be here and thanks to appa (dad) for being part of my debut film.”

Directed by Soundarya, “Kochadaiiyaan” features Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead.
