Koena Mitra On Nepotism: It exists everywhere but there shouldn’t be ‘Gundagiri’

Actress Koena Mitra has been in the industry for more than a decade now. She took a break from Bollywood and went to LA. Koena had a different experience there. She liked their lifestyle, the way they work and professionalism. When we asked the pretty actress the one thing she wants to change in Bollywood, she said, “Cast karte waqt logon ko dosti yari chodkar, experiment bhi karna chahiye dusre logon ke saath. Especially writers and directors ke pass bohot power hain and woh log bohot kuch change kar sakte hain aur itna bada maidan mil raha hain to experiment with new characters. If not here, then where will they experiment? Directors typecast na karke alag alag logon ke saath kaam kar sakte hain.

On nepotism debate, Koena said, “It exists in every industry. Gangs or groups tumhe ban ya boycott karenge, ye gundagiri nahi hona chahiye. It’s not that star kids are not talented, Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most talented actors we have. In the industry, there are groups who try to reduce your salary and make you financially weak so that you would not be able to speak or complain, and you leave the industry. I’m against it.”

When asked if she had faced something like that, Koena said, “I have done stage shows or world tours where big stars and event teams are involved. They come and tell that itna prize kyu le rahe, inko bolo discount de. I charge for myself. They can’t come to me bargaining for other stars just because woh unka show and ye gundagiri hain . I have done more than 1200 live shows in my career. Kuch shows mai maine ye bhi experince kiya hain ki koi bohot bada senior star hai, the organiser come and tell aapko accha mileage milega, accha feedback milega, unka request hain aap discount mai karo. kyu? That star doesn’t run my house. I am charging for my work and performance. Mujhe agar hire kiya ja raha hain , I will charge and kaun stars mere saath stage main hain aur kaun aaju baju main hain, that shouldn’t be anyone’s concern.”
