During the conversation, Karan Johar revealed how Alia Bhatt reacted after she was confirmed for the movie. He shared that the actress burst into tears when she was told that she is a part of the movie. Karan said, “When I went to the van and told her that she’s on (confirmed in the film), and then I said ‘I’m directing the film’. She burst out crying and the first thing she said is ‘Can I eat a cupcake’?”

Varun and Sidharth didn’t want Alia in SOTY?

Further, Karan Johar revealed that Varun and Sidharth didn’t want Alia to be a part of SOTY. He said, “I still remember the first time she walked in, how both of you sent me messages saying you can’t cast her.” When Varun and Sidharth denied the messages, Karan added that one of them even said that Alia was too young.

Well, Alia Bhatt was cast as the leading lady alongside Varun and Sid in Student Of The Year. And, she delivered one of the most memorable role as Shanaya, which is still remembered today. All three of them are unarguably the best set of actors we have in the industry.
