Ranbir Kapoor’s Wake Up Sid co-star Konkana Sensharma believes Animal is not her type of film, says, ‘I don’t think I’m the target audience’

Ranbir Kapoor and Konkana Sensharma featured in Ayan Mukerji’s Wake Up Sid in 2006 and the movie continues to captivate the audience. They even collaborated on an ad shoot recently that got their fans excited. Currently, Konkana Sensharma is receiving rave response for her act in Netflix’s Killer Soup, while Ranbir Kapoor is basking in the success of Animal. However, in a recent interview, the actress admitted she didn’t watch Animal as it’s not her kind of film.

While a section of the audience is praising Ranbir’s act in the movie, some are expressing disappointment over the depiction of violence and misogyny. Talking about why Animal didn’t excite her, Konkana shared, “From what I understand and I may be mistaken, I’ve not watched ‘Animal’ because I don’t feel it’s my kind of film. I haven’t been drawn to the film even from the reviews and things. Also, I’m aware of his previous work and he stands by that work, the director and where a certain violence has been made acceptable in relationships and that is not what I stand for. Now, if it’s done very well. I don’t mind watching it”.

She added, “But that’s not what I’ve heard. And I don’t think I’m the target audience anyway. Millions of people are watching it, so it’s doing very well and they don’t need me.”

Talking about portrayal of violence, she shared, “I don’t have a problem with depicting violence on screen as long as there is very good reason for it. Even sex. I don’t have a problem with viewing sex, but I don’t want to be there just for the sake of it.”

On the work front, Konkana recently featured alongside Manoj Bajpayee in Killer Soup. She was previously seen in Mumbai Diaries season 1 and 2. She even shot for an ad with Ranbir Kapoor which got their fans nostalgic about Wake Up Sid.
