Kriti Sanon BREAKS SILENCE on the criticism of Adipurush teaser: We didn’t expect it

Om Raut’s Adipurush starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan is one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema. There has been a lot of excitement around the film since its inception. But when the film’s teaser was released in October 2022, it was met with some criticism. Now, the leading actress of the film has finally reacted to them.

Kriti Sanon on criticism of Adipurush teaser

The retelling of the epic Ramayan is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. Thus, there are huge expectations with it too. However, the audience felt a little underwhelmed with its teaser.

Breaking silence on the matter, Kriti admits that the audience reaction did startle her. In an interview with Indian Express, she said, “Obviously it did a little bit, because it wasn’t expected. But I think the makers took it in the spirit, where I think any sort of feedback that’s coming from people should be heard. You just listen to and see how much of it is true and sort of make those corrections if needed.”

She added, “The fact that they took it in a good spirit and the fact that the intention of everyone associated with the film was very, very pure. It is not just a film for us, it is a bit more than that. It’s a film that everyone is extremely proud of, without even knowing what the results are going to be. It is not something we are doing for the final result. It is a story told very long back and today’s kids, today’s generation doesn’t even know it very well. It is important to let it out, in a manner that could be more relatable to them.”

Kriti admits of having positive a feeling for Adipurush

Even though the initial reaction didn’t favour the film, the actress still has high hopes. Kriti admitted, “The reaction that came that time, was not expected. We didn’t expect it. Having said that, I still have a very positive feeling towards the film. Because I know what the content is, and I know how Om has made it. I know the scenes, the dialogues. Right now, you have not even heard one proper dialogue. There is a lot! Just let it unfold and then you will see the magic.”

Adipurush features Prabhas as Lord Ram, Kriti as Goddess Sita and Saif as Raavan. The film has a huge budget of Rs 500 crores. The initial plan was to release the film on January 12, 2023. However, it was pushed to work on the film a little more after the criticism. Adipurush is now eyeing a release date of June 16, 2023.
