Kriti Sanon is the cover girl for Cosmopolitan Magazine’s August issue and her photoshoot has now landed in a controversy. In one of the pictures shared by the magazine, we can see Kriti Sanon posing with a taxidermied giraffe hanging in the background. “The giraffe featured here is floating (not hanging, heavens no!),” the post by the magazine on Instagram read. Even after explaining the details of the post, people on Instagram have called the shoot ‘awful’ and ‘disturbing’.

For those who don’t know, Taxidermy is an art of preparing and stuffing the skins of dead animals to make them look lifelike for exhibition.

“I’m not someone who gets angry easily, but when I read about atrocities against women, it really upsets me.” Meet our cover girl @kritisanon being her candid self in our August issue.✨ PS: Aynhoe Park features taxidermy, hundreds of years old, most from museums. Taxidermy is the art of preserving an animal that died of natural causes, for academic purposes. The giraffe featured here is floating (not hanging, heavens no!) with balloons on its back. An art installation, in what is possibly one of the eclectic yet most majestic mansions in the world. PPS: Cosmo loves, no, is obsessed with animals. We were, possibly, the first magazine in India to ban the featuring of fur, three years ago. No animals were harmed before, during, or after this shoot. We may be guilty of watching too many puppy videos during work hours, though. People called out the magazine and the actress for the shoot. Below are few of the comments:

Kriti Sanon spoke about the controversy in an interaction with Quint. She said, “It was a normal photoshoot in a palace kind of hotel in London; the decor was in the wildlife zone. It’s all fake. I am an animal lover.”

As per the caption on the post, Kriti’s quote was, “I’m not someone who gets angry easily, but when I read about atrocities against women, it really upsets me.” Talking about her quote, Kriti told Quint, “My quote hasn’t been written in my actual words. I will ask them to change the caption. I spoke about how the rape and sexual abuse cases really disturb me and how I would want to do something about it.”
