Kriti Sanon and Manish Malhotra in LEGAL TROUBLE over Meena Kumari biopic – details inside

Kriti Sanon is one of the most adored actresses in Bollywood. She has proved her acting prowess and carved a place for herself in the industry, winning the hearts of the audience. It was earlier reported that Kriti Sanon has been approached to play the role of Meena Kumari in her biopic. Renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra will be making his directorial debut with this film. But, looks like the movie will be on hold with a controversy following. Recently, it has come to light that Meena Kumari’s late husband Kamal Amrohi’s son Tajdar Amrohi has not liked the idea of this biopic and is completely against it.

Talking to Koimoi, Tajdar Amrohi expressed his disappointment and furiously stated, “Some industrywalas have become absolutely bankrupt and thieves. They have no right to barge in and step into my territory and domain. They are not just thieves but also DACOITS .”

He further expresses his disappointment and believes that a film on Meena Kumari shouldn’t be made without his consent. Not agreeing to the idea of making the movie, Tajdar said, “She(Meena Kumari) was my mom and Kamal Amrohi was my dad. Please ask those people to make a movie on their own parents and I’m sure they will not do so, for they were nobody. Anyway, what they will make would be based on all lies.”

Tajdar holds the belief that he alone possesses a true understanding of his parent’s marriage. Despite his father Kamal Amrohi passing away twenty-nine years ago and his mother Meena Kumari departing fifty years ago, their legacies endure in people’s memories. Tajdar asserts that his mother’s most successful films were produced after her marriage to his father. Contrary to popular belief, it was not his father who whisked his mother away from her home for marriage. It was his mother who willingly joined his father’s household.

Additionally, Tajdar reveals that their love story did not involve secretive rendezvous in dim corners of film studios like many others in the industry. Instead, their affection blossomed through heartfelt conversations over the phone, with his father’s magnetic voice captivating his mother’s heart.

Expressing his discontent with the proposed biopic on Meena Kumari, Tajdar Amrohi intends to pursue legal recourse more assertively. He said “I’ll go by what my lawyer will tell me. He said to wait. Both me and my sister Rushksar will file a suit.”

Meena Kumari has been the definition of beauty and talent in the entertainment industry. She has left an indelible mark in the history of Indian cinema. Noteworthy films such as Adhuri Kahani, Pooja, Face, and Ek Hi Bhool showcased her talent and captivated audiences. Regrettably, she departed from this world at the untimely age of 38.

On the work front, the actress has two upcoming films in her pipeline. In Ganpath: Part 1 she stars alongside Tiger Shroff and Amitabh Bachchan, releasing on October 20, 2023. Additionally, she will be seen in The Crew with Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan, set to release on March 22, 2024.
