Kriti Sanon is all set to wow the audience with her first women-centric movie in 7 years of her career. Kriti will be seen as a surrogate mother in this social drama. Reportedly, the movie has been ready for a year but it is said that the makers were not keen on a digital release. They were waiting on the pandemic to get over so that Mimi could be opened in theatres.
But the second wave of Covid-19 has once again thrown the film industry off-guard just when things seemed to be getting back to normal. The second wave of Covid has quashed all plans of Kriti’s Mimi having a theatrical release. A source revealed to Bollywood Hungama that Dinesh Vijan has inked a huge deal with a big streaming giant to premiere Kriti’s Mimi. While the team had tried a theatrical release with Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Roohi, the current situation is not looking so good to follow on further.
The source also said that since there is a possibility of a third wave, the makers will stick to Mimi having a digital release. The source said, “Dinesh Vijan has inked a huge deal with a big streaming giant to premiere Kriti’s Mimi, along with a few other projects that are already in place. While the team wanted to release their movies in theatres and even tried the same with Roohi, the current situation looks extremely bleak for theatres to even think of reopening. It doesn’t seem likely in the next three months, because there is a possibility of a third wave.”

The source further added, “Dinesh has checked all possibilities and finally decided to go online with Mimi. He has earned a good profit and is expected to make the announcement soon.”
